In Bangladesh, both government and private healthcare institutions face a growing demand for skilled nurses. The Directorate General of Health Services continues to recruit thousands of nurses each year. Besides offering dignity and social respect, this profession provides attractive financial benefits. Given the current shortage of nurses in the country, registered nurses have a higher chance of securing employment in a relatively short time.
The international demand for Bangladeshi nurses is also on the rise. From the Middle East to Australia and Canada, our nurses are earning recognition and respect for their skills and dedication. A career in nursing promises financial independence, career growth, and a life of dignity.
With time and experience, nurses have the opportunity to grow in their careers—starting from senior staff nurse to nursing supervisor, project officer in the Directorate of Nursing, and even assistant director. Additionally, many pursue academic roles such as instructors or lecturers at nursing colleges.
At the end of their academic journey, nursing students must complete a six-month internship followed by a licensure exam conducted by the Bangladesh Nursing Council. Success in this exam leads to official registration, opening the door to a full-fledged nursing career.
